The Session of First Presbyterian Church of Moscow believes the Presbyterian Church (USA) General Assembly has acted on several very difficult and far-reaching issues -- not the least of which are the issues surrounding same-gender marriage. After considerable discussion during the fall of 2014, Session took the following position:
We, the Session of Moscow First Presbyterian Church, in light of our stated beliefs and values, accept the General Assembly's leading and actions, including its enabling of churches and pastors to act according to their consciences on the question of same-gender marriage. We recognize that our congregation is defined by commitment to be a community of Christ and not by conformity of perspective. We will continue to find paths to peace and reconciliation using the unconditional love of God as our guide.
